For years now, kids have sat around the campfire on the shores of Lake Nehvakatchum, hearing the elders talk about the various legends of the lake, and the most harrowing of these stories seem to be always focus on that one fish - Nehvakatchum Ned - with a patch on one eye, a hook firmly wedged between his fin, a heart shaped tattoo on his tail proudly saying 'MOM', and as he jumps off your hook and starts to swim away, you are just SURE he said 'aayyyeeee ye can never catch ol' Ned...' in a thick scottish accent as he left. But this past Sunday, hopes and dreams turned into reality, as Mr Winkles finally caught grandaddy Nehvakatchum Ned himself!

He said it was a hard pull to get him in the boat, but after fighting this battle every Sunday for 50 years straight, he thinks it was time for new blood to 'rule the pool' out there in the lake. Mr Winkles had heard some stories floating around the crustaceons while he was drifting over the mussel beds the week prior... snippets of conversation about a leader who was becoming out of touch with the younger lakefolk, and some damaging rumours of being unable to provide any further fertilised schools of sardines. Mr Winkles was sure it was simply a case of the stress of the job getting to the old codger, and suddenly a quick whoop! slip! and bob's ya mother's brother's cousin's uncle, and he's up on the boat just like that!

This incident will certainly bring a change to the aquatic life of Lake Nehvakatchum, as they will be working 24/7 to repair the damage done to their name. We reached out to the aquatic mayor's office for comment, but as of the time of printing this article, no comment has been made.
